US Customs seize OnePlus Buds thinking that they’re Airpods

In New York, Border Officers at JFK airport have announced that they’ve seized a stack of counterfeit Apple Airpods. However, despite the rather tiny images of the seizure, it appears that they have instead seized a stack of OnePlus Buds instead.

At least, that’s what we can make out. Here’s their tweet…

The 2,000 “counterfeit” Apple Airpods came from Hong Kong and were due to arrive in Nevada. Troy Miller, Director of CBP’s New York Field Operations, stated…

CBP Officers are protecting the American public from various dangers on a daily basis. The interception of these counterfeit earbuds is a direct reflection of the vigilance and commitment to mission success by our CBP Officers daily.

We’ve zoomed in as much as we dare on their snap and, from this angle they do look a bit like Airpods sitting inside OnePlus charging cases and boxes, but….

It looks like they really, really are OnePlus Buds. Compare the tiny shots in their press release with our earlier OnePlus Buds hands-on.

We think that US Customs and Border Protection have made a rather large mistake here. OnePlus USA have replied to the news on Twitter, stating…

If you want the OnePlus Buds, they’re ÂŁ79 here. Meanwhile, Apple Airpods are ÂŁ159 here.
