Huawei becomes the top handset maker


Despite US blockades and the lack of Google Play, Huawei is seeing fantastic sales in China. This has helped to push the company into the number one spot as the top handset maker in the world.

Now beating Samsung, and despite blocks on Google apps and 5G network kit, they’ve shifted 55.8 million devices between April and June.

The figures, from Canalys, don’t include some of the very latest 5G restrictions on Huawei, but a Huawei spokesman told us..

Our business has demonstrated exceptional resilience in these difficult times.

Huawei sells two-thirds of all it’s phones in China. Sales there have increased 8% while overseas shipments have fallen by 27%.
