Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro getting Android Oreo very soon

It’s not arrived on my Honor 9 just yet, but Honor UK tell me that the Honor 8 Pro handsets should be getting a big dose of Oreo goodness very soon indeed.

The company tell me that you’ll have improved boot times, better speed, more efficiency and reduced background activity that would otherwise drain battery and data plans. Let’s hope it’ll make the PureVPN or long-running Strava problems out, as these apps just don’t work properly due to processes being killed off by Honor / Huawei wizardry.

The Honor 9 update will “follow slightly later in the UK”, and both updates include Picture-in-Picture mode for running two apps on one screen, Notification Dots and Android Instant Apps. Over 60 new emojis, downloadable fonts, linkable files and better Smart Tips are on the way too.

To check your update, head into Settings -> About and check for updates.
