A few days ago we told you about Robert Downey Jr signing up for HTC. The company has now launched their “Here’s To Change” advertising campaign with the help of the actor, and you’ll be seeing plenty more of this over the next two years.
The first advert, which you can see below, sees the Iron Man coming up with various ideas for the HTC lettering. It stands, of course, for “High Tech Computer”, but Robert starts off with “Humungous Tinfoil Catermaran”, then … then they go and make one…
Perhaps the part of the advert that HTC will want you to remember is “HTC – It’s anything you want it to be”.
The ad then gets ever-so-slightly more bizarre as we see a hipster troll carwash (loving the dancing), a hot tea catapult (woah, we need that in the office) and perhaps the best definition – Happy Telephone Company.
Bonkers yes, but it’s more memorable than that dude jumping out of that plane.
I’ve just shown this to my wife and her reaction was.. “What the f***?”
… I think HTC are going for the “Crazy but memorable” angle for this first set of adverts before moving onto other adverts showing you more about the phones themselves.
Actually, while I’m here, can you guys think of any more? I think I feel a competition coming on… ;)
