Ahhh.. the classic Walkman. Who remembers those headphones with bits of sponge and having to rewind your cassettes ? Sony looks set to carry the “Walkman” brand on for many years to come with this new handset, named “Live”. Android has always struggled somewhat against Apple in terms of music and media usage, so the extra Walkman music services and enhanced audio output should hopefully give this phone an edge.
The “Live” doesn’t have the Xperia monica but it’s still similar in design to the other Sony Ericsson devices. Powered by a powerful 1Ghz processor, it comes with a 3.2″ 480×320 capacitive screen, WiFi (and hotspot), aGPS, 5 megapixel camera (plus another camera up-front), FM radio (with RDS), 3.5mm audio jack (of course), microSD expansion and a 1200mAh battery.
Music features include the Walkman player, xLOUD sound enhancement, Sony Ericsson PlayNow, Track ID and an “Infinite Button” to get instant access to artists information and lyrics when listening to tunes. Sony have also added Qriocity music and video content for checking our songs and movies from major labels and studios.
Facebook integration will let users access music and media sharing on the go. The handset will be available “in selected markets” from Q4. Click on for the full press release.
