Lost your phone? Google it, but just watch what you say to OK Google

If you’ve misplaced your Android handset and you’re a bit worried about all those risque photos and “iffy” emails, have no fear. You can find it pretty easily now that Google have switched on a rather nifty little feature – you just Google it.


Provided your browser is logged in with the same Google account as your phone, you simply need to type “find my phone” into Google and – voila ! It’ll appear on Google Maps.

It’s a great idea, but when we tried it with “OK Google” on Chrome it didn’t go so well, as seemed intent on sending us to the Apple iCloud. Here’s a thoroughly professional and fully researched video showing the problems we had..

To fully secure things, you’ll need to use the Android Device Manager app. Then you can wipe the phone, add a message and do other very cool things.
