Matchpint – the app that wants to buy you a drink whilst you watch the game

Do you like watching football / rugby / handball (?!?) on a huge screen? Do you like beer? If so Matchpint may well be your app.

This app helps find sports bars or pubs that are showing sports events and in affiliated establishments you can claim rewards. You simply create an account, choose your favourite sports from a list that includes the obvious televised sports – football, rugby, athletics with more esoteric games like Australian rules football, Beach Volleyball and Greyhound Racing. In all there are 30 different sports to choose from ensuring that even the Water Polo enthusiasts don’t miss out. You can also select your favourite teams so I immediately chose Green Bay Packers and England International Rugby.

You can choose either show all, my events or recommended and you will get a list of matches on at bars in your local area. Simples. There is a blog talking about upcoming events, a find bars only button and a rewards button listing what you need to do to claim your prize.

In the rewards section you can click on featured, around me or in progress and see whats up for grabs. Depending of what pub you visit you can earn a free Pint of Guinness, a Free Drink With a Burger or other stuff. To ‘earn’ this free stuff you can check in to the location, rate the location or post a review about the location via the app, show the staff your reward screen on your phone and then the goodies are yours!

The app is smooth and (depending on your GPS) fast and I really can’t find fault with it. It’s easy to set up and if you travel around a lot and so don’t know if you’ll get a good local watering hole it seems a safe bet.

I’ve not claimed any free stuff yet but if the opportunity arises I will be watching England Vrs Wales in the 6 Nations rugby this weekend and a free pint of the black-stuff sounds good.

Android iphone

The Matchpint app is available for both Android and iOS and if you’re out and about this weekend you could do worse than giving it a try…
