And so it starts – Samsung Galaxy S4 renders leak – Update – it’s a fake

By James Pearce on March 6, 2013 in Android, Rumours, Samsung (Android)

My favourite time leading up to a new device appearing is the leaks appearing online in the lead up to announcement and this time it is for the Samsung Galaxy S4. As usual these images have been leaked by @evleaks on Twitter. Are they real? As usual take this with a pinch of salt.

So these images don’t really show much, it doesn’t seem to have buttons in the lower bezel, it seems to be bigger than the S3 and a few specs are mentioned

  • Android 4.2
  • 13MP Camera
  • Super AMOLED Full HD screen
  • 16/32/64GB variants
  • 2GB RAM

So it is going to be a spec monster, especially if they spec it with the rumoured Octo Core Exynos chip. As usual Samsung seem to be outspeccing everyone else to secure their place as the no 1 Android manufacturer. Quite why a device needs an eight core CPU, maybe the latest version of Nature UI is that bloated it needs it. Who knows, we shall very soon though.

Update – It seems that the usually reliable @evleaks seems to have took an image created by Expansys to act as a placeholder for the upcoming S4 and ran with it. We’ve had word from the boys at Expansys that their mock-up images, which were included in a “rumour round up” page, were lifted and used by evleaks.

I spend most of the day telling people to turn stuff off and back on again. Inbetween doing that I post news and reviews over here.

I am about to embark on a Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT self imposed restriction for a few months. Keep your eyes on the site for updates.
