Google Maps for iOS is back!

Google Maps for iOS is back!

Do we really need to give you the history on this? Oh, OK. I’ll do it briefly then. If you had an iPhone a few months back then you’ll have used Google Maps as the default mapping solution. Apple changed all that though, and along cam Apple Maps which, let’s put it nicely, was a bit pants. So everyone looked around for a Google Maps app, but there wasn’t one.

Until, that is, today. Google Maps for iOS is back!

Yes, as I rub the sleep out of my eyes I still can’t quite believe it’s true but Google Maps has returned.Download, play and be merry. It even has voice-guided navigation too…

Update: The app collects and sends your location data to Google by default which some users may not want to be a part of so heres how to disable it.

  2. Tap the Settings icon in the top right
  3. Tap About, terms & privacy at the bottom
  4. Tap Terms & privacy
  5. Tap Location data collection
  6. Turn it off
