Remember the HTC Vivida? Well, the guys at Mobile Gadget News were taking a stroll around the CTIA Wireless 2004 event in San Francisco when they came across the Audiovox stand. Audiovox were showing off their SMT 5600 (AKA the Orange SPV C500) and .. wait, what’s that on the top right? (Big pic here) Hello – it’s the SMT 5500, which we revealed earlier as the HTC Vivida. Hang on.. GPS ? Global Positioning? Yep, that’s what it says.. (click here for info on GPSOne).
Now, we think that the board stating Pocket PC 2003 is completely wrong, because the manual for this phone (here on the FCC.com website) quite clearly states it’s a Smartphone. It’ll be running a VERY quick 400Mhz Intel Delhart Processor – that’s DOUBLE the speed of this MiTAC Mio 8390, which I thought was already quick enough!
I’m hoping that the Audiovox 5500 will be launched on AT&T (now merged with US Network “Cingular”), although Verizon was mentioned too. It shows great promise and maybe we’ll get to see it on this side of the pond too! A Smartphone, with Bluetooth, camera, flash and GPS ? Bring it on!
