In addition to this, Honour has also announced the creation of the new “Tap Tap” feature. This allows users to quickly and easily access Gemini voice prompts by double-tapping the rear of the phone. Users can also access Gemini voice prompts via a long press on the power button on the side of the phone. Combined with the excellent Multi-Flex mode of multitasking, which allows up to three apps to be opened simultaneously, this demonstrates Honor’s focus on making the Honour Magic V5 an effective productivity tool as well as a large canvas for enjoying content.
With Honour and Google announcing that the Honour Magic V5 will receive support for updates for seven years, Honour Magic V5 owners will be supported until 2032. This means both software and firmware updates will be available, and we’ll see Android 22 on the Magic V5 in seven years’ time.
This partnership brings Honour in line with its major competitors, including Samsung and Google, in terms of software support moving forward.

The HONOR Magic V5 elevates foldable productivity and creativity by seamlessly integrating Google Gemini as an always-available AI assistant. Available by ‘long pressing’ the power button, Gemini helps users with writing, planning, learning and more. It can also pull information and function across multiple apps and services – all with a single prompt.
Additionally, users will be able to use Gemini to simplify complex topics, and rehearse for important moments with real-time responses. They can even ask Gemini about anything they see by sharing their camera or screen in Gemini Live conversations.
To further enhance accessibility, HONOR also created a new “Tap Tap” feature, enabling users to instantly launch Gemini by double-tapping the back of the device, which eliminates the need to unlock or open an app. Paired with HONOR’s Multi-flex mode, the HONOR Magic V5 can run up to three app windows side by side for extremely efficient multitasking. Users can review notes, join a video call, and chat with Gemini all at once. For example, they can drag a term from a document directly into Gemini for immediate clarification without disrupting their workflow, or summarise meeting minutes while simultaneously dragging key dates into their Google Calendar, setting a new standard for AI-driven productivity on foldable devices.
