Honor announce OS support timeline for 400 series

Honor have announced that they will be stepping their support for Android updates up to the next level today. In a press release (see below), Honor announced that they will be supporting the 400 series of devices for up up to 6 years of OS and Security updates when the phone is launched.

This is great news for the new devices and beings Honor into the top tier of OEM’s interms of length of support for future updates. At the time of writing I believe that only Google and Samsung are offering longer update promises of 7 years.

In addition to this Honor have also announced that they will allowing existing owners of the Honor 7 Pro (primarily developers) to download the latest Android 16 Beta 3 onto their devices for testing. This is for testing purposes and should not be used a daily driver. This is following on from the release of the Andoid 15 beta last year onto Honor devices.

It seems that with this and the previously announced AI Image to Video development that utilises the newly announced state of the art video generation model, Veo 2 on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, that Honor and Google are beginning to work closer together and want to continue to build on this partnership into the future. With the announcement of support for the 400 series 6 years of updates that brings us up to at least 2030.

There will defiantly be some interesting times down the road for Honor and it is not just going to be be for the Honor 400 series as the Honor 7 Pro and Honr Magic V3 will both be seeing Android 16 in the very near future along with the 400 series.

It seems that honor is living up to its old tag line of “For the Brave”
