Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro coming to the UK

Fancy spending less than £200 on your next Android smartphone? How about spending less than £180? Today Xiaomi / Mi announed the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro. The former starts at just £179.

For that cash, you’re getting a phone with 64GB storage (and there’s a microSD slot) and 3GB memory. There’s also a 4GB / 128GB storage model for just £20 more (£199). You’ll be able to get both of those later this month on mi.com and Amazon.

Redmi Note 9

Weighing in at 199g and 8.9mm thick, the Redmi Note 9 has a 6.53″ 1080×2340 (19.5:9 ~ 295 ppi) screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 (octa-core up to 2GHz) and runs Android 10 / MIUI 11.

Specs include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC (tappy-tappy payments), USB-C charging, GPS and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The 5020mAh battery supports up to 18W fast-charging. There’s a 22.5W in-box charger.

Camera-wise things are looking pretty tidy considering the price of this thing. A 48 megapixel f/1.8 main shooter, 8 megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2 megapixel macro lens and a 2 megapixel depth lens. Up front, a 13 megapixel selfie.

You’ll be able to get this in Midnight Grey, Forest Green and Polar White.

Redmi Note 9 Pro

Again, available in two versions, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 6GB and 64GB storage model or a 6GB, 128GB model (albeit only in grey). You can whack a microSD card in though. Prices on these are still pretty respectable though, £249 for the 64GB model (which is available in more colours – Tropical Green, Glacier White, Interstellar Grey) or £269 for the Grey-only 128GB model. You’ll see the Note 9 Pro appearing on June 8th on Amazon.

The Note 9 Pro is slimmer than the Note 9 (just) at 8.8mm and weighs 209g. It’s got a 6.67″ 1080×2400 20:9 screen (~395 ppi) behind Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It runs Android 10 / MIUI 11 and is powered by a Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G CPU (octa-core up to 2.3GHz).

Specs also include dual-band WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and 30W USB-C fast charging of the on-board 5020 mAh battery.

The fingerprint sensor on this is side-mounted. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

Camwera-wise you get a 64 megapixel main lens (f/1.9), an 8 megapixel ultra-wide lens, 5 megapixel macro and 2 megapixel depth. There’s also a 16 megapixel selfie shooter.
