Some OnePlus smartphone users are reporting excessive battery drain on their devices, and investigation has revealed that WhatsApp is killing more than 40% of the battery, even with limited use, in the following conditions:
- OnePlus devices running both Android 9 and 10 are being affected by the high battery drain
- WhatsApp version 2.19.308 appears to be the culprit for the cause of the drain
- Some Xiaomi phone users are reporting that they are being affected by the bug as well.
The reports are coming in from OnePlus users on Reddit, OnePlus Forums, and even feedback on the play store, that WhatsApp is drastically draining their batteries by 40% or more, even though users limiting their use of the app.
We aren’t getting reports of his issue across all OnePlus devices, only on phones using Android 9 and 10… which to be honest due to OnePlus’s update schedule is a large proportion of OnePlus smartphones.
