Samsung Galaxy A90 5G announced

People do tend to overlook that “A range” of Samsung devices. For most, it has to be a Galaxy S handset or nothing. However, as we found before, the Samsung “A handsets” are actually really rather good.

Now they’ve announced another one – the Galaxy A90 5G. It’s secured by Samsung Knox, has a 6.7″ Full HD+ (1080×2400) Super AMOLED Infinity-U screen with a tiny notch. It weighs just 206g and is 8.4mm thick. There’s a 4,500 mAh battery with 25W Super Fast Charging and it’s powered by an octa-core CPU running up to 2.84GHz.

Other specs include either 6GB or 8GB of RAM (model dependant), 128GB of storage and a microSD slot for up to another 512GB.

Cameras? Up front there’s a very high resolution 32 megapixel selfie shooter, whilst at the back there’s a row of three lenses – a 5 megapixel depth sensor, an 8 megapixel wide sensor and a 48 megapixel main shooter. AI cleverness adds Super Steady mode, a Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detector.

Other security features include an on-screen fingerprint reader and face recognition.

The Galaxy A90 5G will be available in black and white. In the UK it’ll be on pre-order from September 20th and will launch on 4th October.

Conor Pierce, Samsung Corporate Vice President for the UK and Ireland, told us..

Samsung has worked tirelessly with our partners in the 5G ecosystem to bring 5G to as many people as possible, and now we are offering 5G connectivity across the entire Galaxy smartphone portfolio, giving more people high speed access and connected experiences.

No exact details on price so far but were expecting a £599 price-tag on this one, which is very good for a 5G phone.
