MWC – LG brings us a foldable too.

Yesterday we brought you news of the LG V50, which is a new 5G phone being picked up by EE in the UK and Sprint in the USA. It’s got a 6.4″ QHD+ OLED FullVision Display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and DTS:X sound technology.

It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU and has a vapor chamber for heat dissipation. Lovely thing it is, but we’re intrigued to learn more about a rather nifty accessory that LG are bringing to the party – the “Dual Screen” accessory.

Now, although this is an optional thing, it’s appeared everywhere in their press releases here in Spain. It basically resembles a case but has a second screen inside of it. Thus, you open it up for double the viewing thanks to a second 6.2″ screen. You can have one screen showing a movie whilst you work on a second. Controlling and switching is easy thanks to a multi-window system and a dedicated controller.

I must admit, this could be quite interesting. Whilst we’ve seen the Samsung Fold (expensive) and the Huawei Mate X (expensive) this could at least let you buy one 5G phone for a reasonable price and, if you do want to add that additional capacity, you can make that jump later and probably at a lower price.

Here are some more hands-on shots of the LG V50 and its folding case/screen thingy
