#MWC18 – STK announce the X2

I know what you’re thinking.. “Who are STK?”

Well, they’re actually selling into the UK and you can find out more about them on STKlife.com. At Mobile World Congress they announced the STK X2. It’s a smartphone with an attractive price-tag, just £269.99. It’ll be available in Black or “Special Edition Gold” in April (you can pre-order here) and the specs really aren’t overly bad either.

The X2 has a 5.2″ 1440x720p screen, so not the full 1080p but there’s 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM with Android 8.1 (Oreo) at the heart of it. You can whack in more storage via the microSD memory card and it has a dual-SIM tray.

Powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750V (which we believe is 1.5GHz), it has a dual rear camera arrangement (16 megapixel and 0.3) plus a 16 megapixel front camera with a flash. It’s 8.2mm thick, and comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and a fingerprint scanner. We got a hands-on with it at their stand as you can see here.

Henri Salaméh, STK Global Commercial Director, told us..

The STK X2 has been designed with the consumer experience and luxury feel in-mind. For example, the 3000mAh battery will keep the device running for up to 11 days in standby, or 35 hours of talk time, while Dual SIM slots allows the phone to function for work and home without having to switch SIM cards. Our team in London has over 25 years of experience in mobile tech and design, and our ambition with the STK X2 is to take the most technologically-advanced features and pack them into an affordable, stylish piece of kit.

Design-wise it certainly looked the part, but theres lots of competition from the likes of Honor in this space, espcially with handsets like the Honor 9 Lite.
