Android Wear updated for Oreo 8.0

Android Wear updated for Oreo 8.0

Android Wear 2.0 is getting a bit old now and while there have been a few minor updates, none have introduced anything particularly novel or exciting.  A few days ago Google announced the Oreo 8.0 update for Android Wear.  While this isn’t a major update, it does provide a few new features and options:

  • Notification vibration strength setting
  • Touch lock option for wet conditions
  • Support for 7 new countries / languages
  • Plus more e.g. notification channels, battery saving background limits

Google has also provided a list of watches that will be receiving this update:

Android Wear Oreo (8.0) update is already available on the following watches:
  • Fossil Q Venture
  • LG Watch Sport
  • Louis Vuitton Tambour
  • Michael Kors Sofie
  • Montblanc Summit
Watches that will receive the Android Wear Oreo (8.0) update:
  • Casio PRO TREK Smart WSD-F20
  • Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch
  • Diesel Full Guard
  • Emporio Armani Connected
  • Fossil Q Control
  • Fossil Q Explorist
  • Fossil Q Founder 2.0
  • Fossil Q Marshal
  • Fossil Q Wander
  • Gc Connect
  • Guess Connect
  • Huawei Watch 2
  • Hugo BOSS BOSS Touch
  • LG Watch Style
  • Michael Kors Access Bradshaw
  • Michael Kors Access Dylan
  • Michael Kors Access Grayson
  • MIsfit Vapor
  • Mobvoi Ticwatch S & E
  • Movado Connect
  • Nixon Mission
  • Polar M600
  • TAG Heuer Tag Connected Modular 45

Watches on the first list should be able to update now; those on the longer, second list will receive the update once the manufacturer decides to release it.  I’m currently using the LG Watch Urbane 2nd edition, which isn’t on either list, so cannot try the update.  If any readers have received the update please let us know what they make of it in the comments below.
