Three tells you to “Go Binge”

Getting something delivered via the internet on your phone, but not having to pay for the data it uses? Sounds good yeah?

This is what Three have planned today. It’ll mean that you can enjoy some Netflix streaming, watch TV channels on TVPlayer, listen to tunes on either Deezer or SoundCloud and it won’t use any of your data allowance.

Although it’ll no doubt annoy competing audio and TV services, which will still consume your Three data allowance, users of a new Three “Go Binge” plan will get the “free” streaming enabled for these four services straight away.

Other services will continue to chomp away at your data, which may mean that you’ll perhaps switch allegiance and head to Deezer instead of Spotify. It’ll certainly ruffle some feathers.

Dave Dyson, CEO at Three UK, tells us..

We know that from our extensive insight that bingeing on content has become part of everyday life, yet people have been unable to do that on the go as much as they would like due to fears of exceeding data limits.

With Go Binge we are the first network in the UK to give people the freedom to use their data to stream their favourite shows and music without any boundaries and without worrying about restrictive data allowances and charges.

To celebrate, Three are hosting a Bed ‘N’ Binge Retreat event which will let you do some serious binge watching at a resort in Osterley Park. You “pay” for your stay by simply watching a whole load of Netflix shows.

Guests are even able to head to the bar to order themed food and drinks and (to be honest I can’t believe I’m typing this) there’s hands-free docking stations in the toilets so that “guests to binge on the loo”.

You can get more details on the plans here on the “Go Binge” section of the Three website, which includes this promotional video…

As for the costs and who can get it, Three tell us that the Go Binge features are available on…

All handset Advanced plans of 4GB and above.
All SIMO Advanced plans of 4GB and above.
All Pay monthly MBB plans of 4GB and above.

The cheapest we could find was the SIM-only Advanced plan..

Three also tell us that you can use their Feel At Home system to get these data-free services abroad too.
