Plemo LG G4 Heavy Duty Case – Review

Plemo LG G4 Heavy Duty Case Review

I recently received a Plemo LG G4 heavy duty case from Avantek UK for review. So here is a run down of the case and my thoughts on it.

The case comes in three parts, the first two of which are required and form the main case, the third is optional for protecting the face of the phone as well as allowing it to be attached to a belt or used as stand when fitted to the rear of the main case.

The first part that goes on the phone is a soft rubber inner case which is actually a decent thickness to cushion the phone from drops. This part has all the holes for buttons, usb port, headphones and mics. All are in the correct position and are centred correctly with the port/buttons/mics. As you can see from the picture below this part is very flexible.

The second part is the out shell which fits over the inner case. This is made of a much harder plastic. I suspect this would take the brunt of any drops leaving the phone (with the additional cushioning from the inner case) intact. This outer shell also has a small kickstand on the back which sits at a single set angle. The kickstand is very much to right hand side of the case so the phone can be easily unbalanced if knocked on the top left corner when using the kickstand (see below).  But it is nice feature to have if you don’t want to to carry around the third part.

The third part is made of the same material as the out shell and has a rotating belt clip which can also be used as a stand. The clip and the rotating mechanism feels very sturdy, whether this will last with use is difficult to say at this stage. The inner side of this part (the side that sits face to face with the front of the phone) has a soft felt type material to ensure you don’t get any scratches on the phone. The belt clip is a reasonable size but may not fit some of the wider belts out there. The stand mechanism works by using a metal clip which holds open the belt clip, this provides up to 5 angles for the phone to be held up in whilst in landscape mode.

Overall the case feels solid and looks very well made with all parts fitting together with barely any gaps between the joints. The thickness of the materials certainly add to the thin frame of the G4 to the point that it becomes quite bulky, even if you don’t use the face cover belt clip part. The protection the case offers seems to be on par with much more expensive premium make cases. Well the materials certainly felt like it, but I didn’t carry out any drop tests.

This case is currently available for purchase on Amazon for £6.99.
