Vodafone change excess call and text charges

Due to Ofcom changing the way service numbers (0845, 0870 etc) Vodafone are simplifying their excess charges. These out of bundle charges are what you pay if you exceed your monthly allowance or if you don’t have one.

From the 10th August 2015 there will be a single price of 37.5p (excluding VAT) = 45p (including VAT) per minute for the following plans:

4G Red, Red, Red+, Red Business, Essentials, Your Plan Small Business, Business Single plans, Your Plan, Standard Bundle, Red Bundle, Red Value Bundle, Business Premier and One Net Express Single plans.

Some charges are staying the same, like calls to UK mobiles and landlines; some are going up, like calls to Channel Islands or Isle of Man numbers; whilst some have gone down, like video calls to other networks (does anyone still do this?!).

These charges won’t affect customers normal monthly bill unless you exceed your monthly allowance. Customers who frequently incur out of bundle charges will receive a text or other communication from Vodafone. As this may cause these users to incur a price rise of more than the RPI (0.9%), they will be entitled to cancel their contract. If you think you may be affected or want to know more than head over to the source link, pop into a Vodafone store or give Vodafone a call (191 from your handset).
