Remember when Microsoft first announced Windows 10 they stated quite unequivocally that all Windows Phone 8 handsets would get the upgrade? Just to avoid any confusion, the precise message released via Twitter was:

With the first official sightings of Windows 10 released just a few days ago, Microsoft have slightly amended this view. In an interview on the official Lumia Conversations website, Chris Weber, Corporate Vice President of Sales for the Microsoft Mobile Devices group, commented that:
‘Our goal is for the majority of the Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 to join the Windows ecosystem…’
Presumably the newer devices will be upgraded, but what about those diehard Lumia 1020 still out there? Â We shall have to wait and see.
