HTC Desire EYE Launched – Not one, but TWO 13 megapixel shooters

Compared to how things were just a few years ago, it feels like ages since the last Desire appeared. This, the Desire EYE, certainly feels like it’s got a sense of 820 about it.

All the usual HTC goodies are here – all the stuff we love. BoomSound, which should be an industry standard, will deliver beefy and proper sound through the dual front speakers. Zoe, which you’ll hear a lot of this evening, is on board and there’s a 5.2″ Full HD display too. The Desire EYE will be available from and Three plus Carphone Warehouse from “early November”.

Other specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, 16GB on-board storage, 2GB RAM and a 128GB microSD card slot for additional storage. GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA etc is on board.

As for the camera, as you’d expect with a name like “EYE” it has the HTC EYE Experience which includes Screen Share, “Face Fusion” (which blends two faces together, perhaps as a way to see what your kids will look like), an Auto Selfie function, Voice Selfie, Photo Booth and Face Tracking to name just a few. The rear camera is 13 megapixels and it has a dual LED flash with HDR and 1080p HD video recording.

The front camera? Get this. It has a 13 megapixel shooter there too! This has a dual LED flash system and f/2.2 lens. You want high-quality selfie shots? You’ve pretty much got it…

HTC tell us that both cameras will be good in low-light and that intelligent dual-LED flash tech will stop you looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost when it goes off.

If two cameras isn’t enough there’s also three microphones to ensure that you get clear voice calling too.

Available in some vivid and “bold” dual-colour shades it’s waterproof and has 4G technology too.
