Lenovo S860 and S660 Hands-on

We were lucky enough to have a chat with the Lenovo boys in Barcelona last week, and had chance to play with all of their new devices. The S860 forms part of their “hero” range and comes with a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). However, the big plus point of this particular handset is the rather epic battery life thanks to the 4000mAh battery.

It has a brushed metal unibody exterior and a 5.3″ HD (1280×720) pixel IPS screen. Not only that, but due to the rather capacious battery you can actually charge other devices with it. I plugged in my own phone to test but you could perhaps charge a tablet or similar device.

Available in either titanium or white this will have 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It also has WiFi, Bluetooth and two cameras – an 8 megapixel at the back and a 1.5 megapixel shooter up front.

The S660, to the left in the image below, is similar in design but a tad smaller. THat one has a 3000mAh battery. Although they’re not overly slim, they’re not exactly as fat as those “extended life” batteries can make your phone look. The S660 has a 4.7″ IPS (540×960 pixel) screen, and is powered by the very same 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The camera setup is the similar at the back to the bigger brother, having an 8 megapixel shooter, but there’s only a VGA up front. This time you get 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. You can also add more via the microSD card slot – something the S860 lacks.

Both devices have a fairly industrial quality to them and, although not the sexiest looking things, they have dual-SIM support, quad-core processors and nice big displays.

Here’s some more shots of the S660..

Both devices are coming to “selected markets” in June, so keep an eye on Coolsmartphone for more details.
