Huawei Ascend G510 coming to Vodafone tomorrow

Huawei Ascend G510 coming to Vodafone tomorrow

The Huawei Ascend G510 is the latest in the new range from the Chinese manufacturer that’s been making serious inroads into the budget Android smartphone market, and it’s coming to a Vodafone store near you tomorrow (Friday 12th April)!

Hot on the heals of the release of the Ascend G330 that we reviewed in January, the G510 is actually Vodafone’s replacement for the highly rated G300 as they will not be carrying the G330.

The specs (below) stack up very nicely, especially as it’s only going to be £13 per month on contract and £130 on pay as you go.

Update – We’re aware that the Vodafone site is showing this as £180, which is higher than the press release states. We’re in touch with Vodafone about this and will update you shortly.

Update 2 – We’ve been informed that the £180 price on PAYG is an error and it should be £130.

£130, One Hundred and Thirty pounds? And everyone thought the Nexy4 was a bargain!

Some conflicting specs floating around though.

The snapdragon Wiki page shows the 510 as having the S4 MSM8225Q which is a Quad core A5 SOC.

GSM Arena have the chipset as a MTK 6577 which is a dual core A9 SOC.

Looking on XDA it looks like there are oodles of Chinese made phones that use the 6577 SOC and all are cheap as chips, easily rootable and custom ROMable. I may just try one of these bad boys out being the skinflint I am ;)

Oh, check this site out for loads of knock-off Chinese phones, loads of iPhone, Samsung and HTC look-a-likes!
