I usually approach the Alcatel stand each year with a sense of foreboding. They usually have a humongous selection of new handsets and they’re as confusing as heck. This year, it’s slightly less confusing. There’s still a couple of different versions of the same handsets such as we have here – the Scribe “Easy” and the Scribe “HD”.

The HD has a 5″ HD 720×1280 pixel screen and a quad-core 1.2GHz and an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording at the back (plus a 1.3 megapixel up front). The “Easy” version is similar but has a 5″ WVGA screen with a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU plus a 5 megapixel camera. The Scribe handsets have handwriting recognition which you can see below.
The One Touch Scribe HD should be out in April It has a black crystal lens, “dragontail” glass (no, me neither) and an oleophobic coating. It runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and there’s a dual-SIM version available. The usual WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, aGPS and microSD stuff.
The One Touch Scribe Easy will be out in March and runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), Again, there’s a dual SIM version and it has a 2500mAh battery (like the HD) alongside all the usual WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio port.
You’ll see below that there’s a magnetic “flip” case and the touch-pen.
