BlackBerry Port-a-thon is go!

If you are a regular reader of TheCoolGamer or CoolSmartPhone, you will probably know that I’m (sort of) actually looking forward to the release of BB10, having acquired a BlackBerry Playbook through a developer scheme a few weeks back. Well, Research in Motion are at it again, this time with the BlackBerry Port-a-thon.

The Port-a-thon is a 36-hour event aimed towards getting gaming apps ready for BlackBerry 10. For every app submitted, the developer will get $100, plus more prizes depending on how many games you port. $100 guaranteed for porting (or even creating) an app? Awesome! It’s a shame I’m too busy writing this post for you guys to actually develop an app…

Anyway, if you are a developer who has an app they want to port, check out the Port-a-thon blog post here. There is also an Adobe Connect area for registered porters where you can chat and get help, but that wasn’t working for me earlier. Here is the list of rewards:

  • Get one or two gaming apps approved – $100 per eligible app.
  • Get between two and five gaming apps approved – $100 per eligible App and one (1) BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet
  • Get between five and ten gaming apps approved – $100 per eligible App + one (1) BlackBerry PlayBook tablet + FOR THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED (100) QUALIFIED PARTICIPANTS ONLY one (1) Dev Alpha Device
  • Get more than 10 gaming apps approved – $100 per app + one (1) BlackBerry PlayBook tablet + FOR THE FIRST TEN (10) QUALIFIED PARTICIPANTS ONLY one (1) Dev Alpha Device + trip to Game Developers Conference in San Francisco March 25-29, 2013
