Surface tablets and Windows Phone – Ballmer talks

Surface tablets and Windows Phone Ballmer talks

CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, has been chatting with The Seattle Times and has dished out some expected prices for their very own Surface Tablets. The details are still quite vague, but he did say that the Windows 8 slabs would hopefully reach a “sweet spot” of…

Probably $300 to about $700 or $800.

Over here in the UK that translates to around £184 up to £430 or £492 but, as we’ve seen many times before, it’ll probably be a bit more than that when they arrive.

Ballmer told the publication that 2012 has been “the most epic year” in their history, but does admit that their other mobile project – Windows Phone 8 – is still a small player.

We’ve got a big challenge in front of us .. but we have a very different point of view in terms of user experience. We’ve got great cloud integration with the rest of the Microsoft world, which a lot of people participate in. So I think our point of view on user interface, the great work that our hardware vendors are doing and the integration with Windows should help ratchet us up.

Microsoft appear to be taking the right track – clicking all of their products together, with mobile and online overlap. The market hasn’t been kind to them so far, so we’ll have to wait to see if that changes.
