With all the furore surrounding the launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII it’s easy to forget that there are plenty of other phones in the Galaxy range and they are not all aimed at high end users that require copious amounts of processing power and the ultimate in today’s technology.
One such handset is the new Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 which has today has had it’s launch date confirmed for 4th June 2012.
The Galaxy Mini 2 is squarely aimed at the first time smartphone user, Simon Stanford, Vice President UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division, Samsung said: “We’ve had a good response to the Galaxy Mini since it launched last year, particularly among the ‘first smartphone generation.’ Smartphone growth is continuing at pace this year, and not just at the premium end of the market. Handsets such as the Galaxy Mini 2 are needed to meet the growing demand for more affordable devices for customers on the lookout for their first smartphone.”
With a 3.27″ HVGA touch-screen, 4gb onboard storage and a 1300mAh battery the Galaxy Mini 2 measures in at just 11.9mm deep and comes with a vibrant coloured casing.

The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 will be available on both the T-Mobile and Orange networks.
2.3 Gingerbread…, hope there is an upgrade path to 4.0 sometime?
But I suspect Samsung will use its 800mhz processor as an excuse not to.
I know this is a low end, starter device, but 2.3 has been out a looooong time now.
If I were buying, I would get the SE Xperia Mini which has road map for release, they just released the one for the SE Xperia Mini Pro, so can not be long to wait:
