Kindle for Android – A library of books, in your pocket

Kindle for Android A library of books, in your pocket The Amazon Kindle is a “wireless reading device” with a 6″ screen. Put simply, it’s an electronic version of your favourite book. You can go buy one, or you can download the free Android reader that’s just become available. Download from the Android Market, login to Amazon and grab your favourite book. There’s 600,000 or more to choose from (in the US at least, there may be a different amount elsewhere) and it’s a simple enough process to get going. So simple, in fact, that we’ve just installed it, logged in and downloaded a book with just 4% battery life left. Muha!

During our tests (which you can see below) we found the text to be large, clear and easy to read. A quick swipe with your finger will flick the page over and you can rotate the phone to view your book in portait or landscape. It’ll remember your last page and, even when you’re stuck on the Tube with no web connection, you can catch up with Jane Austen, Jeremy Clarkson or whatever you fancy.
