HTC have just announced the HTC Snap – a phone running Windows Mobile Standard 6.1. Inside there’s a Qualcomm MSM 7225 CPU running at 528 MHz, 256MB ROM, 192MB RAM and a microSD(HC) card slo. The display is a 2.4″ QVGA (320×240) screen and it comes with a long-lasting 1500mAh battery. Other specs include Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g, GPS and a 2 megapixel camera.
There’s HSDPA/WCDMA connectivity with 900/2100 MHz bands and up to 7.2 Mbps down-link speed with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. It’ll be available in the second quarter of 2009, rolling out in markets around the world throughout the second half of the year. An unlocked version supporting HSDPA at 850/1900MHz for the US market will be made available as the “HTC S522” during the summer.
Many will remember our story on this handset a month ago as the “HTC Maple” and will applaud the return of the QWERTY messenger-style handset which also features one-touch hotkeys for messaging, email and Inner Circle email management with a jog ball for navigation.
