i Mate 8502 and 9502 announced. Coming to Telstra soon i-Mate has just announced an exclusive deal to roll out two new handsets in Australia. The handsets in question are the all-new i-Mate Ultimate 8502 and i-Mate Ultimate 9502 and will be appearing on the Telstra network very soon.


The i-Mate 8502 is a QWERTY messaging handset with triband 3G with HSDPA / HSUPA and quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE. It’s got WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 2 megapixel camera with fixed focus and a flash. There’s a microSD card slot for storage plus 256Mb ROM / 128Mb RAM and GPS and video output for projectors and displays.


Meanwhile, the i-Mate 9502, which looks a lot like the SideKick, gets the same triband 3G with HSDPA / HSUPA and quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE, this time though there’s a 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus and a flash, plus a front camera for video calls. The same WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 256Mb ROM / 128Mb RAM and microSD slot is present, as is the integrated GPS and video out.


Both handsets will be available on Telstra from March – the Ultimate 8502 will cost AUD$999 with the Ultimate 9502 costing AUD$1099. Two new handsets from i-Mate, does this mark the start of a major come-back ? Press releases below!
