When I first loaded up Office 2007 on my PC I was a fairly happy bunny. I say “fairly happy” because, when I saved a Word document it would use – by default – the .docx format. This was all well and good if you’re sending the file to another Office 2007 user, but not so great if you’re an Office 2003 user (a huge compatibility pack is needed) or, more surprisingly, a brand-new Windows Mobile 6 owner.
It shocked me too, especially when Windows Mobile 6 had a nice new version of Office Mobile on board and somehow it still didn’t understand Office 2007 files. However, Microsoft are keen to make up for the error and have added an update. Ah – now this is where it gets a bit more embarrassing because the update was here as a link from the Office Mobile site. Now, though, it’s gone. We can only presume that the update wasn’t quite ready for publication, so keep an eye on both of these links for an update.
