Live local info and maps on your handset

Live local info and maps on your handset I’ve been an Orange customer for years, however I must confess that I’ve not used Orange World much. The last time I used it was to buy one of those “calling tunes” that play to people who ring you. Last night however I was stuck in traffic and, after about 10 minutes of staring at long line of traffic, I decided to browse the web on my Orange SPV C600.

There, tucked away right at the bottom of the “Orange World” site is something called “Orange Finder”. Clicking on this tells you where you are and produces a map which fits perfectly on the screen. You can even zoom in and check out the surrounding area or, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you can find links to local amenities. After clicking on “Eating and drinking”, then “Drinking”, I soon found that there were several pubs just 20 yards away! Oh if I could only leave the car on the M6… 🙁

I think the “Orange Finder” service is a pretty cool facility and I’m probably not the only one who’s missed it. I’ve also found that similar facilities are available on o2 and Vodafone, so I’ve written an article here on how to use it. Don’t forget that you can do that same thing too! Just email me or post your review / preview or thoughts on software, hardware, a service or utility in our forum!
