Three choose Orange as new roaming partner

Three choose Orange as new roaming partner Three, the 3G network here in the UK, have announced that they’re switching their 2G-failover partner to Orange. Customers of Three have previously switched back to an o2-operated service when out of 3G range, however Orange will now be taking on the service with over 99% of the population covered.

There’ll be a transition period at the end of the year before Orange takes over completely in 2007. Three said of the deal that “Orange tendered the most competitive bid for the supply of voice, text and data services and has been selected as the preferred national roaming provider for 3 from the end of 2006.”
