CES: SlingMedia Announce Windows Mobile Player for SlingBox

CES: SlingMedia Announce Windows Mobile Player for SlingBox See this (top)? It’s called a SlingBox and you can get one for $249.99, which is about £142.13. What it’ll do is let you control your TV and watch the output across a WiFi connection to any PC or laptop. Although it may look suspiciously like a chocolate bar, this thing has won stacks of awards.

Your laptop or PC will need to have the SlingPlayer software installed, but once done you get to watch your TV anywhere. Imagine it – you’re sitting in your hotel in New York but you’re watching Celebrity Big Brother and the local news at home! The software acts as your remote control for virtually any A/V device, from changing channels to viewing recorded content on Sky+ / Tivo boxes or DVD Recorders.

OK, so why am I mentioning it (other than the fact that it sounds pretty damned good) ? Well, at CES they’ve unveiled a Windows Mobile version of the SlingPlayer, so now you should be able to watch and control your TV from any WiFi access point in the world on your Pocket PC or Smartphone! I’ve included a large shot of the Windows Mobile SlingPlayer below. How good is that ? Oh! Can I review one?! 🙂
