Opera will fix their browser for C500

Opera will fix their browser for C500 Remember this news story from last week? Well, Opera has finally come out of beta – however it didn’t seem to load on SPV C500’s at all. Oh dear.

Opera have now identified the problem and announced a fix for it, which should be available as a complete download next week. This is great news for C500 users, and a great alternative to the in-built Pocket Internet Explorer that comes with your phone.

As a side-note, the PC version of Opera now interestingly supports BitTorrent downloads straight through the browser!

UPDATE – Opera say of the problem “Opera 8 for Windows Mobile is signed with a Mobile2Market privileged certificate. Most of today’s devices are shipped with this certificate. The only exception is devices sold by Orange and Verizon that require specific certificates.

Opera 8 for Windows Mobile will therefore not run on these devices until we have received the needed certificates and signed the build. We are doing everything we can to speed up this process. As soon as we have the required certificates, an updated version of Opera will be released.”

Keep an eye on CoolSmartPhone and we’ll tell you when the fully working C500 version of Opera is available. More details about Opera itself can be found tin our earlier story.
