DAT and Dangaard Announce Tabella eXpress

DAT and Dangaard Announce Tabella eXpress DAT Group plc, (“DAT” or “the Company”) in collaboration with Dangaard Telecom today launches Tabella eXpress in the UK, the first of the Tabella range of services, aimed at the mass consumer market.

Tabella eXpress provides synchronisation of contacts and calendars and, on compatible phones, the ability to set up easily and quickly e-mail from and to users’ mobile phones.

Tabella eXpress enables users to synchronise contacts and calendars between PC’s and supported mobile phones via the eXpress Organiser – a web site where contacts and appointments stored on the Tabella eXpress servers can be created or updated. This also acts as a backup facility for users’ contacts and calendar. They will also be able to restore their mobile phone calendar and contacts if they change, lose or break their mobile phone. The service uses the industry standard protocol SyncML-DS. Using the mobile phone’s standard sync application on supported phones initiates the synchronisation process and any updates entered through the eXpress Organiser are transferred wirelessly to the phone. The eXpress Organiser can also be synchronised via an Internet connection and a connecter application to the popular PC applications, Microsoft Outlook ExpressTM and OutlookTM. The system also works in reverse and any changes to contacts or appointments made on the phone or on the PC can be synchronised wirelessly (or via the Internet for PC’s) back to the Tabella eXpress servers.

DAT GROUP PLC

New Mass Market Over-the-Air Synchronisation Service, Tabella eXpress, Goes Live

London/Berlin, 6 May 2005 -DAT Group plc, (“DAT” or “the Company”) in collaboration with Dangaard Telecom today launches Tabella eXpress in the UK, the first of the Tabella range of services, aimed at the mass consumer market.

The key benefit of Tabella eXpress is that personal or business contacts and appointments are stored on the Tabella eXpress servers as well as the phone and PC. This means that if a user loses or upgrades their phone, restoring valuable contacts and diary information to a new phone is effortless.

Tabella eXpress Organiser can also be used to quickly and easily set up existing POP3 email accounts from major Internet Service Providers on compatible phones. A facility for sending and receiving email on phones is in great demand from subscribers but the number of people who actually have email on their phones is very low. The reason for this is that it requires technical knowledge of mail service provider parameters and knowledge of how to enter these parameters into the phone. This is beyond most users who normally only know two items of information; their email address and password. With Tabella eXpress, users of an existing POP3 email account (from the current list of email providers used in the eXpress Organiser) can set up their mail armed with just these items and their phone will be set for email wirelessly over the mobile network.

Potentially, Tabella eXpress will work with any SyncML-DS enabled phone – a category which represents approximately 80% of expected global phone shipments in 2005. DAT and Dangaard Telecom will be working with a range of channel partners such mobile operators, internet service providers and device manufacturers to market the Tabella eXpress service to their end-user customers.
The website address, www.tabella.com, allows potential subscribers to sign up for a 14 day free trial after setting up an account.  The initial service price has been set at £19.99 per annum.  As the Tabella channel partners roll-out the service, other language versions of Tabella eXpress will be developed. It is expected that additional phones will be added to the pool of Tabella eXpress compatible devices starting from launch as the service offering is further enhanced.

Dangaard Telecom’s Head of New Business Development, Jes V.N. Christiansen, said: “By introducing the Tabella eXpress Service now, we take the first step towards reaching out for the whole market represented by consumers, professionals and businesses. The product range will later include other best-of-breed solutions covering all segments and all demands of the market. We are already seeing a great demand and have a lot of our customers asking for the range of services. We believe that the introduction of the Tabella eXpress Service presents an extra dimension to our value adding services facilitating our partners in the telecommunication industry with new and innovative solutions.”
David Hayes, Chief Executive of DAT Group plc commented: “We’re delighted that we’ve been able to make such good progress since admission to AIM in December and pleased to have been notified of our inclusion in the new FTSE AIM 100 Index, due to launch in mid May.

“Our first consumer service – Tabella eXpress – reflects our view of the significant market demand for products that make it easier for users to get the best out of their increasingly capable but complex phones. Tabella eXpress is aimed at bringing convenience and security to the huge group of consumers who use their phones as their primary address book to help keep in touch with family and friends.

“We have even more sophisticated services launching later in the year that cater for the professional and business users.”
