aLLreLi 4-port Travel Wall Adapter – Review

You’re about to go on holiday, you’ve got everything – the sun lotion, the wet wipes (is that just me?) and your gadgets. Wait though, what about those travel adapters you bought? You put them in that “special place” didn’t you? Are they in the bottom of the suitcase or are they in the loft somewhere?

And while we’re at it, should it be adapter or adaptor? Nobody seems to know. Some people reckon it’s an American English thing, but nobody really seems to know which one is right. Isn’t the English language fun?

This is a clever 4 port charger which will pump out 6.8A / 5V total. It’s quite a tiddly thing too, measuring in at just 8.59 x 4.98 x 3 cm. So, if you get your credit card out and put it on the desk, it’s roughly that size but 3cm deep.

For travelling it’s ideal because you slot in the appropriate plug for the country you’re visiting. You’ll probably need to check which country has which socket though, because that good ‘old British plug is what you need in the UK, Cyprus, Malta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and a number of other places. An EU plug is supplied, as is an American one and an Australian one. No more travel adapters! You’ve got them all in the box.

To connect it to the main charger, you just take the appropriate plug and slot it in. It’ll firmly connect and click into place – you remove it again by pressing the small white button at the base of the charger to release it. If all else fails and you lose the appropriate plug, you can either use a travel adapter along with another plug out of the box, or get something like this and plug it in – it’s a standard connector.

The charger itself is fitted with “Smart Charging” cleverness which will stop your devices getting damaged but will, at the same time, charge the flip out of them. There’s over current protection built in and you’re get the fastest possible charging speed at up to 2.4 amps per port. Each device, and the maximum / safest charging voltage and amperage, is detected. Get to your hotel, plug it in, get your cables (not supplied) and whack in your phone(s), your tablet(s), your controllers, cameras, whatever you have. A blue LED will light up and you’ll get the best charge possible – whether there’s one or four devices in.

The unit itself is plastic and lightweight. Couldn’t ask for more really. Top banana. Available from Amazon UK for £11.99 or Amazon USA for $16.99.
