Microsoft update their YouTube to comply with Google demands

Last week Google and Microsoft got in a bit of an argument. Basically Microsoft made their own YouTube app and it failed to comply with several requirements of the Google API read about it here if you want. Part of that argument involved Google giving Microsoft a deadline of Wednesday the 22nd to fix the problems. Well lo and behold the update has come and you can update it using the link below.

Microsoft have as expected not quite played ball though, Google mainly had issues with the download function and the fact that adverts were removed. Well Microsoft have removed the download function and disabled it for people who don’t update, but somewhere along the line they forgot to add adverts back in. Ho hum.

Nice one Microsoft this really is the way to get Google to help you out with the required API info you wanted, oh and I doubt they’ll ever be inclined to help with anything else. Certainly not Google+ or Google Music apps.

So it’s not really the end of the world, especially as third party apps like MetroTube exist.
