Ofcom unlocks mobile frequencies

Mobile networks can now start using their 2G spectrum for 3G mobile broadband after approval by regulator Ofcom. It effectively allows o2 and Vodafone to change the use their 900Mhz spectrum for 3G services and Everything Everywhere can use their 1800Mhz frequency for 3G.

These changes should help increase speeds and improve coverage in rural areas and in buildings.
