BBC iPlayer now on two Windows Mobile handsets

BBC iPlayer now on two Windows Mobile handsets It looks like the BBC have setup their iPlayer to work with both the Samsung Omnia and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. The web service allows licence fee payers to catch up on TV shows and watch live TV. Now, before we get too excited Richard Titus, Future Media Controller at the BBC states..

“Initially the new site will only support a couple of additional handsets – the Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 but this will continue to grow with the Sony Ericsson C905 due next week and more in the coming months (stay tuned for details). The Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 are Windows Mobile based – but this is a coincidence!”

We’ve already found a way to make your browser immitate an Omnia to make this work, but it’s great to see the Beeb using two Windows Mobile devices to test their new service on, even if it is just a coincidence. 🙁
