LG GW620 - The full details
18 Jan 2010 - Handsets - LG (Android) - By Leigh Geary

The Android-powered LG GW620 may be targetting the teen-texters but hey, we like the look of it. Following our earlier story LG have sent us the full press release below. It confirms the 5-line QWERTY keyboard, 3" touch screen, 1500bAg battery and a 5 megapixel camera with "auto-face tagging" which will automatically recognise your friends faces in photos.

There's also something called "Face-to-Action" which lets you call, text, MMS or joing their social networking site by err.. touching their face. LG are also keen to point out the free apps available in the Android Market.

LG ENTERS THE ANDROID MARKET

LG brings applications to the masses with the launch of the LG InTouch Max GW620

Berkshire, UK, 18 January, 2010 – LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, today launches the LG InTouch Max GW620, the company’s first Android mobile handset.

With access to over 20,000 applications* available on the Android Market™, the LG InTouch Max GW620 offers a huge selection of free and payable apps to its users including weather, games, mapping, Facebook or Twitter applications to name a few. By launching onto the Android market, LG is bringing ‘apps’ to the masses by allowing its users to benefit from an enhanced mobile phone experience.

The LG InTouch Max boasts a 5-line QWERTY and touch screen keyboard, making it simple to type and especially convenient for social networking. The phone is ideal for people who want to stay connected and up-to-date with their friends, relatives and online lives 24/7. With a Social Networking Manager built-in application (Linkbook™), you can also go straight to your friend’s social networking profiles from your contact list.

Other features include Auto Face-tagging, which automatically recognise your friend’s face on a tagged photo. The Face-to-Action means you can call, SMS, MMS or join your friend’s social networking site simply by touching their face in a picture. The LG InTouch Max also comes with a 5-megapixel camera that captures high quality images and videos which can be displayed on the 3-inch touchscreen and a 1500mAh battery, which promises plenty of talk and stand-by time.

John Barton, Sales and Marketing Director for LG - Mobile, comments: “This is a symbolic launch for us. It signals the end of expensive and exclusive applications and the start of applications for everyone.

“Many people don’t actually know that the Android market offers an impressive 20,000 plus applications which are easy to download, and of which 65% are free – and this selection is growing every day! We are proud to bring out the LG InTouch Max which is a high performing and easy-to-use device that is perfect for those out there who want to experience the ever-growing and popular world of applications.”

The LG InTouch Max GW620 will launch today on the following network providers:

This week I have been asked to review Twitter Pro. I am very fond of Tweetcaster so any new Twitter client has to be good. For £1.50 can this compete?
