Here in the UK perhaps the most popular PVR (Personal Video Recorder) is Sky+ / Sky+ HD. You can set programmes to record from your remote, from the web and from your phone (with our various Windows Mobile hacks). Now though they've released a Windows Mobile client which lets you use their on-demand service AND use Remote Record properly. Get the client by pointing your WinMo browser to http://p.wecomm.com/sky.
There's further details here or browse to the main link on your PC if you're hard-core and want to grab the relevant CAB that way. There's no joy for Android owners just yet, but you can always head over to the Android Market where there's already Remote Record apps.
