Those two new HP handsets - exclusive to Vodafone
25 Oct 2008 - Handsets - HP (Windows) - By Leigh Geary

A few days ago you may have seen a mention of new HP handsets appearing soon. We haven't covered this yet, so to make up for it we've got the new HP phones showing up in the Vodafone magazine. Huzzar!

First things first, Vodafone have bagged an exclusive on both handsets. We don't know how much they'll be but they're certainly about to appear in Vodafone shops very soon and the marketing machine is already winding up, as you'll see below.

The iPaq Data Messenger, on the left, is listed on the HP website and packs a 528Mhz Qualcomm CPU with a 320x240 touch screen (meh?), MicroSD card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and 3.1 megapixel autofocus camera. There's 3G connectivity with tri-band UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA and quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE but no face-pointing camera. Behind the screen there's also a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard which you can see in action below.

The HP iPaq Voice Messenger, listed here on the HP site, also has a 528Mhz CPU but runs Windows Mobile Standard 6.1. It's got a 20-key alphanumeric QWERTY layout but you get a similar spec - WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, GPS, 3.1 megapixel camera, MicroSD card slot and another rather low-end 320x240 pixel screen plus a distinct lack of face-pointing camera despite the 3G connectivity.

Read on for the larger scans and more information.

Here's the bigger scan of the appropriate Vodafone page. Notice how the Palm Treo Pro is available for £300? Vodafone are also selling the Diamond for £300 on Pay As You Go and the Touch Pro for £350 on PAYG too.

Next up is the adverts, here's how HP and Voda are selling the phones - "Beauty and the Best".

Ooh - see the QWERTY slider on the Data Messenger? Let's take a closer look..

Here's another shot from the demo video..

The Android App Review Show - Episode 12
This week I have been asked to review Twitter Pro. I am very fond of Tweetcaster so any new Twitter client has to be good. For £1.50 can this compete?
