  • T-Mobile MDA Compact IV - Official Press Release
    08 May 2008
Yes, yes, we know you're probably sick of hearing about the HTC Touch Diamond by now, but we've at last managed to get the official T-Mobile press release about launch dates, pricing and more.

The device has a "GPU" (graphics processing unit) to help it achieve the slick screen effects and interaction we showed in our hands-on video, and it'll get 64Mb more memory than the test unit we filmed. The specs are pretty amazing for such a thin, phone-like device - a Qualcomm MSM7201A CPU running at 528 MHz, tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA, GPS, WiFi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, FM radio, a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus plus a VGA CMOS camera up front.

It'll be the first handset to launch with Windows Mobile 6.1 on-board, plus you get an FM radio and YouTube videos to entertain you. There's 4Gb of internal storage for your MP3's, Word Documents (let's not forget it's a good 'ole Pocket PC too) and other files, plus there's a host of cool "tweaks" which you'll be finding out on a daily basis.

T-Mobile claim that this is a "Slim and sleek exclusive design", indeed they're right - the phone call / drop keys have swapped places with the home and back keys, which are on the top row for the HTC Touch Diamond. T-Mo have also added their rather healthy data packages into the mix for this launch, plus they're adding a free 7-day CoPilot trial and, best of all, it'll be available for absolutely nothing on the Flext 50 tariff when it becomes available in July.

Read on for the full press release, but do also check out our photos of the device and videos here and here.

London, May 2008: T-Mobile today announces the launch of the MDA Compact IV, a touch screen, all-in-one mobile phone exclusively designed for T-Mobile, which combines style with the very latest in mobile internet and entertainment services.

The MDA Compact IV is the latest addition to T-Mobile’s ever popular MDA portfolio, which is set to be enhanced later this year with some exclusive devices which are aimed at those who demand high style coupled with outstanding functionality. The devices within the range ensure you’ll get the best entertainment and internet services when you’re on the move. They also run on Windows mobile technology ensuring they’re incredibly easy to use and offer a similar experience to your home PC.

Building on the success of last year’s MDA Compact III, the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV boasts a range of cutting-edge features making it perfect for people who want a phone with style and substance. Perfect for internet browsing using T-Mobile’s web‘n’walk service and super-fast HSDPA for mobile broadband, a 3.1 Mega pixel in-built camera and Sat Nav, perfect for finding your destination whilst on the move.

The MDA Compact IV boasts all the benefits of the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 technology including Outlook mobile, ideal for people who never want to be out of touch with friends and family.

Combine these features with a high gloss, full touch-screen display, lightweight super-slim design and a true internet experience and it’s easy to see that this device has sacrificed neither form nor function. The Compact IV is great for Mobile TV and music playback and is additionally supported by a huge 4GB internal memory that allows you access to all your MP3 music files and photos at the touch of a button, creating a truly integrated phone.

The MDA Compact IV available from July at T-Mobile stores and online at www.t-mobile.co.uk and costs from free on Flext 50.
