It's my phone and I'll moan if I want to
20 Feb 2008 - Windows Phones - By Leigh Geary

We started this site nearly 6 and a half years ago now. At the time we were stumbling across issues with the original Orange SPV Smartphone and finding work-arounds. Now it's February 2008 and still I'm finding problems - and this time it's with my brand new HTC Touch Dual. So far we've already covered two bugs with it (here and here) along with fixes, but I'd like to mention several annoying things I'm still stumbling across every day.

Firstly, let's say I'm writing a text message. My xT9 is on and I'm merrily tapping away at a rate of knots. However, when I decide to add a new Appointment I'll find myself back in ABC mode again, forcing me to change back. Why has it changed? Then, if I decide to add a new Contact it'll be in ABC mode too, but that's understandable because I'm typing peoples names. What's confusing is when I get to the "Phone number" field - it sticks on ABC mode. Why doesn't it change to "123" automatically?

Also, why does my ear seemingly open up random programs when I'm on a call? Perhaps an unlock option should show when a call is in progress so I don't inadvertently take photos of strange women (that's my explanation and I'm sticking to it).

Oh, and one more thing while I'm here. Why, after all these years, does Microsoft think that everyone in the world wants their contacts listed as "Lastname, Firstname". I don't want to have to go through and change the way they're displayed. I want it as "Firstname, Lastname" ... all the time! Grrr!!!

Anyone else? Or is it just me? :)

The Android App Review Show - Episode 12
This week I have been asked to review Twitter Pro. I am very fond of Tweetcaster so any new Twitter client has to be good. For £1.50 can this compete?
