VITO have just released FindMe - a free and useful tool to let someone know your location or when you'd like to find someone else. Install and enter a password to give to your friends, then get them to send you a text message with the password and they'll get a reply with your coordinates. They simply enter the information into Google Maps to see your location.
This works well with devices containing integrated GPS devices like the T-Mobile MDA Compact III and any other device using a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
