The TAD Print E-mail
By Gears

This is the TAD. I was sent a few of these to review and, once they popped out of the envelope, a lot of my colleagues thought they were .. something else. I'll not say exactly what, suffice to say that it rhymes with rock king.

The TAD is an accessory for a variety of people. If you've got long nails and you're tired of breaking or damaging them on phone keys, if you don't want to use the stylus or if you want accurate stylus use - check this out.

Put simply this is a comfortable rubber ring with a variety of inserts for differing needs. Above, in our close-up shot, you can see the three inserts. The one that's currently in use is ideal for touch-screen Windows Mobile phones - who needs a stylus? You've also got a domed insert and a concave insert which may be more suited to texters.

There's a selection of colours and sizes to suit your finger size and mood...

The TAD arrives in a small plastic bag with the size shown up front. Each TAD has the TAD logo imprinted on it and measures about a centimetre in width. Be sure to get the right size. I presumed I was a large, so I tried the large sized blue one, but it was a little too big for my finger as you'll see in some of these shots. Here's me using the TAD to select items on my touch-screen mobile..

Now, as this is a coolsmartphone.com review, I just had to show you the TAD in video...

If you find that the keys are a little too fiddly on your phone, or you've got posh nails you want to protect, try a different insert to tap those keys..

Or, as we showed on the video above, you can slide in your stylus and do one-fingered stylus navigation. This is good if you find your thumb covering up the screen when not using a TAD.

Conclusion

The TAD is one of those accessories that will be invaluable to some and puzzling to others, however I can't deny that using a touch-screen phone was quite refreshing and easy with the TAD. This is ideal for people who just hate getting that stylus out out and looking "geeky", plus it'll suite people who do use the stylus and would like to try a one-fingered navigation instead.

Retailing as I type for £2.99 it's certainly cheap enough to try even if you're not 100% sure. :)
