Sony Xperia 5 II – Now available to pre-order


Costing £799/€899 SIM free, the Xperia 5 II is now available for pre-order from the Sony website. It’ll be available in Black or Blue and will run Android, shipping around Autumn.

The Xperia 5 II weighs in at 163g and comes with a 6.5″ 21:9 Full HD+ (HDR OLED) screen at 2520×1080 pixels. Not only that, but there’s a 120Hz screen, a 240Hz Motion blur reduction and a 240Hz Touch scanning rate with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

It’s water resistant (IP65/68) and comes with a triple rear ZEISS camera arrangement. This consists of three 12 megapixel units – a main 24mm f/1.7, a 70mm f/2.4 telephoto and a 16mm f/2.2 ultrawide lens. It’s said to deliver “razor-sharp focus and perfect exposure”.. There’s also real-time eye AF, which helps when snapping fast-moving objects.

The front camera is an 8 megapixel f/2.0 lens.

Other features include a 3.5 mm audio jack, “360 Reality Audio“, front stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, Qualcomm aptX HD audio, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and microSD support.

This is all powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G CPU with a 4,000 mAh battery and fast charging via the USB-C port. It’ll ensure that you have 50% charge in just 30 minutes, plus there’s clever charging tech to ensure that your battery charging performance is maintained.

Other features include dual-band WiFi, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth 5.1.
